Our Labor is Not in Vain

By August 30, 2019No Comments

Labor Day weekend is upon us. Enjoy the moment. Summer has passed. A new school year is beginning. Opportunities abound.

Lydia Monroe, Sue Smout, and Abby Monroe are leading a team of enthusiastic volunteers as we relaunch Journey Kids–our ministry to children and families. Their Sunday morning experience promises the hope of life-changing discipleship.

Likewise, Tom (TC) Corbett and Ally Turner lead a team of excited volunteers as we relaunch Journey Teens–our ministry to teens and families. Journey Teens returns with a strong Sunday morning presence, as well as a Wednesday evening experience, also promising the hope of life-changing relationships.

Starting September 8, Sunday mornings this fall will offer an hour of discipleship for all ages through Equip Study Groups (small groups and Sunday classes) from 9-10am. From 10-10:30am, we are offering a time to connect in life-changing relationships. And then, from 10:30-11:30, we worship.

Julie Smith and Jessie Keim lead a team of gifted volunteers as we transform the Sunday morning worship experience. Our Chapel Service will be held in Parmerter Chapel, and our Sanctuary Service will be held in–you guessed it–the Sanctuary. Our Saturday 5pm worship service continues with the same commitment to meaningful community. Each service has teams ready to lead us in joyful worship to our God of unfailing love.

Our Guest Services team will be new and improved. Our lobby will offer a Next Steps desk to help us, one and all, become more engaged. Our Journey Groups (weekday small groups and Sunday classes) continue to invite us to connect, grow, and go. We continue outreach to our beloved Roberts campus community. We will strive to look for new ways to reach the 37,000 people in a 7-mile radius of our location who reported “no faith preference.” Pearce 4 Kids continues to be a shining star, perhaps our signature outreach, to the community we serve. Our missions committee (Great Commission Leadership Team) is looking for ever-creative ways to both share the Good News of the Gospel, and be the hands and feet of Jesus, in acts of kindness on the westside of Rochester and beyond, reaching all the way to our partner community (church and school) in Nzige, Rwanda.

You’re invited. Join with us. This is a new year, full of promise and hope.
