Tim and Anita Boyd continue to provide counseling and pastoral care to missionaries, both overseas and in the US. In addition to helping with pre-field preparation, re-entry help, and debriefing they are often called to come alongside people to strengthen them in the Lord. The following are a few examples from Anita’s recent pastoral care ministry:
“A female missionary, who was participating in a debriefing training we were leading, was feeling down emotionally and physically tired. She asked me to pray with her. Later she came up to me with bright eyes and a refreshed appearance and thanked me for the prayer. Another woman, who was participating in our marriage seminar, asked me to pray with her because she was so concerned for the safety of her husband who was traveling back home on a very dangerous road outside of Kabul. Her concern was legitimate and very distracting for her. She later expressed how much that the time of prayer meant to her, especially as she greeted her husband at his safe return.”
The Boyds make themselves available, and God uses them as He sees fit to encourage, refresh, and bring spiritual strength. Their mission comes from Philemon, verse 7, ‘to refresh the hearts of the saints, by bringing joy and encouragement.’
